Panzerjager I

Actually Scratchmod, I have a few colour questions you may be able to answer for me. I think it's pretty safe to say that the interior colour would be an off white? Would the seat be black or a redish burgundy colour, tan? And the transmission thingy there, would that be a green or black? I've seen them both colours. Thanks for any help on this.

I got the chain cutters and what I suppose must be the jack on the fender. This is one of those areas where the instructions aren't so clear. One of the parts was even mis labeled with the wrong number. Not a real big deal, you can BS your way through. But I have heard before that Dragons instructions aren't always straight forward.

You'll notice I have the back of the hull (top) glued on. I placed it so it was square with the very back vertical panel where the muffler goes. But....the front top of the hull doesn't fit perfectly well. A slight overlap. So I guess I'll have to sand it back a tad. Nothing a file and a large hammer can't fix!

WoW !! Great looking start !! That P.E. screen on the rear is Awesome !!

Yes ! You are correct. Dragon's instructions are full of errors. They Have gotten a little better. But You can tell that they rush Their stuff out & don''t really operate on Quality Control. That's why the old adage - Measure Twice, Cut Once applies to Dragon kits !! Great Job & Very clean build !!

Thanks for the nice comments guys, glad you like it so far.

Got some primer on the interior today. I'll spray it with hairspray then Tamiya Buff and put some nicks and scratches and whatnot in it. I'll handle the extreior a little different. I don't want there to be red scratches all over the place even though the primer would show through in some places. All depends on how deep the scratches are right?

I finished the gun. Quite complex, kinda like a small kit in itself. Very easy to lose some of the tiny, tiny little pieces.

Here is a couple of mock up pics. I wish I could say this pretty well put itself together. but I don't like to lie so I won't. A Tamiya kit it's not. Great detail, I'll give it that. we'll see what I can make of it. I'm confident it will look right pretty by the end.

I thought I had replied, sorry. The colors you described are right. Elfenbein (off white) is the color I used. I will have to take a trip up to the loft to dig out that book and check., but I'm pretty sure.

The test fit looks great, and as Ken said, nice clean build.

Cheers

Rob

Thanks Scratchmod. Do you think Tamyia Buff would be close enough for the interior then?

Looking good there. Nice progress being made.
That gun looks like it was a nightmare

Thanks for the comments. The gun was a bit of a chore for sure. There are a couple of missing pieces. But they were tiny and you'd never notice anyway. ;D

Yes, this is my third entry. Non are finished. One is in the painting stages, one is ready for paint and this one is getting close. I will probably start a fourth before too long. I've been working pretty steady at these. You know one of my tricks is to have a kit box on my lap, cleaning parts from the sprue while watching t.v./movie with my family. I'll even use some non toxic glue to put pieces together. I figure I might as well create somethiing while I'm watching t.v., specially if it is a boring flick. Not only that, but I have my model desk in the corner of the livingroom anyway. So guys, get out of your mancave, grab a t.v. tray or whatever and spend some time with your family while enjoying your hobby....(if you can stand it). ;D

Question, I noticed with my mock up that the gun is slanted downward a tad. Most tank guns can point down at least a little right? I think some more than others. If it is still like this when I glue it all together, I think I'll leave it. I like the looks of it that way. Something a little different rather than the usual horizontal or pointed upward. Actually it almost looks like it is being repaired or broke. What do you think?

Yep I'd go with the Buff, you can add a drop or two of white to get it closer. I'd go for a lighter shade because any wash or filter will darken it too much.

Hey fellers, I gots da interior done. I didn't go too crazy because this will not likely be seen when everything is together. The best part is that I can try to assemble everything and think about getting some paint on the exterior. ;)
