I have been reading up on it, really interesting history.
Happy belated Birthday Pantherman. What a thoughtful gift from your daughter. Can I adopt her for about 6 weeks? My birthday is coming up in early July and I could use an extra kit. I have two daughters of my own and they never gave me a gift like that. Guess I will have to start dropping hints! None the less, family is number one in my book. I am happy that yours thinks so much of you!I was pleasantly surprised on my birthday this week with a fabulous present from my youngest daughter.
Can't wait to get stuck into it. Will post pic's as I go.

Thanks, my girl's are great for things like that. They see that I enjoy the hobby and help me with little treats every so often. My youngest actually bought me a new compressor with an air tank last year, I was so shocked I had tears in my eyes when she said I knew that you really wanted one. Finally made a start on the beast tonight. Missed the bigger scale of 1/35 compared to 1/48 on the recent Stuka and Staff car.I was pleasantly surprised on my birthday this week with a fabulous present from my youngest daughter.

The beast is getting bigger by the day. Impressed with the fit of most parts, very little flash. The PE is a good quality, a bit thicker than some I have used. Leaving the wheels and tracks until later in the build. Finally made a start on the beast tonight. Missed the bigger scale of 1/35 compared to 1/48 on the recent Stuka and Staff car.
Also this thing is a monster. Hour's of fun to follow.

Think I will paint this as just out of the factory as they only built 2 working tanks and a part built 3rd. Never fired a shell in battle !!

I have done a bit more research and found that the actual E100 was never built, only a 1/5 scale wooden mock up but it was abandoned following orders to cease all heavy gun and tank development and production near the end of the war.Not sure but once i've heard that they've used in Berlin defence.
I have Spielberger and Doyle's Special Panzer Variants and there's a few pages on it with a bunch of pics .I have done a bit more research and found that the actual E100 was never built, only a 1/5 scale wooden mock up but it was abandoned following orders to cease all heavy gun and tank development and production near the end of the war.
The only similar tank, the Mause, was actually built. Two completed tank's and a additional turret were made but never used.
The Russians took them at the end of the war and used the 2 poorly built tank's to make 1 working tank which I believe is housed in a Russian tank museum.
Still looking into the history of both tank's and will update as and when I find anything.

So the beast is almost finished, lower hull wheels fitted and sprayed, just got to spray some red ones then fit.The beast is getting bigger by the day.
