Moebius Spindrift

Well figured I took a long enough break from the bench after the contest, time for another project. Decided to build this little gem from the Irwin Allen show Land of the Giants. I really dig the designs of retro sci-fi ships. I plan on throwing some lights in her.



Got the resin inserts for the windows as well as the photoetch set.



Went ahead and removed all the parts from the trees and started cleaning them up. Not a whole lot of flash to deal with and a pretty low part count. Its nice to take a break from the 100+ piece builds from time to time.

The control console and seats could use a little help...


Cut the paper tabs off and just built it back up with styrene, I did the same thing with the chairs



Got the photoetch parts cut out and cleaned up


Then started preping the parts to receive the photoetch



Here is a look at the resin window inserts, they also come with a little ladder if you want to do a crash display. Mine will be displayed in flight.

Sweet project! I can't wait to see it lighted. The interior set is really cool, too.

Next you should do the Flying Sub from "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea", keeping in the same theme.
