JAKKO BUILT A PLANE!
I know it may seem unusual, but here's the ones I built completed in the last ten years, in chronological order (edit, the next day: added types and makes). All 1:72 scale unless noted. The ones with the clear propellers are wargames models.

S.E. 5a (Revell)

Built for a starter set group build, which is why part of it's bare plastic: the set didn't include paint for that colour :)

Nakajima Ki-43-I Hayabusa (Hasegawa)

Brewster (Tamiya 1:48)

This has a resin engine and cockpit interior, but the manufacturer of those has slipped my mind. (Also note: this is not a "Buffalo" :) It's in KNIL colours, where this plane was known simply as the "Brewster".)

Bf 110 (Matchbox)

Built for a straight-from-the-box group build.

AGM-86 (Modelcollect)

The base is from Warhammer :)

All painted by reverse masking: I first sprayed the wings and rear fuselage white, masked the white stripes and then painted the black and the camouflage.

I really like the pattern on the bf109. I haven't seen that before.

It's the one I'm least pleased with myself :) I didn't want to get my airbrush out for the mottling/swirls on the side (this was before I bought a portable compressor and spray booth for my modelling room, so I sprayed things in the shed, which was not ideal), so I decided to brush-paint them instead, which doesn't look as good as it should.

That's funny because I think it looks pretty cool!

Only because most of them are wargames models :) I built a couple of bases for them from a clear plastic curtain-closing rod and the disc from a GW large flying base, with a small magnet in the top. All of the planes with clear propellers have a bit of iron (the head of a large nail, for example) on the underside at their point of balance so I could have the planes "in flight" over a wargames table.

The Lightning came about because they're famous for their ability to do zoom climbs, while the F-16 is a demo plane, so why not show both doing just that? :) The Lightning sits loose on two pieces of acrylic rod that go into holes drilled into a vignette base I bought 20+ years ago but never used. For the F-16, I took a sheet of plexiglass and heated it along a line with a paint stripper, then bent it to a 90° angle, like an L but with the long side horizontal. The model is attached by two lengths of florist's wire (steel wire for winding around the stems of flowers, to keep them from bending) glued into the smoke generators (which are modified Sidewinder missile parts) and into two holes in the plexiglass. I then painted the wires white and glued cotton wool around them as smoke.
