I, too, now am stuck with Windows 11, as it was pre-loaded (without my understanding...my fault) in the new laptop I just bought. The wonderful part about 11 is that it only "allows" MS-approved software installations.
Bye-bye, video and photo editing program. Arrivederci, AutoCad version I previously ran. Garden design program? Hasta la vista, baby.
Before the urge to throw the thing against the wall, up pops "Exit S Mode?"
"Why, yes, I think I would like to try that, good Sir."
"Are you sure?"
"Being somewhat of a luddite, I think I am."
"Really, really sure?"
"Please?"
"OK, but you can't come back."
"Dude! Just do it."
BOOM. I'm back in the game, with most things back to working again. I really dislike when they "improve" things to my detriment. It seems to always make a lot of work for me to either figure it out, or to go back to what I like.
Rant complete.

In the end, Microsoft went back on their word, they said when Windows 10 came out (2015-ish) that it would be the final version, they'd just keep updating it with new builds like Apple has done with OS-X ("X" being apple OS v10), that was when they skipped Windows 9, and the saying "Windows 7 8 9" became popular.Work with it a little. HI Edbert no need to be sorry as you are right on what you have posted as in my veiw its all about MONEY isnt it an im pleased you want to see me back on this forum cheers SirIn the end, Microsoft went back on their word, they said when Windows 10 came out (2015-ish) that it would be the final version, they'd just keep updating it with new builds like Apple has done with OS-X ("X" being apple OS v10), that was when they skipped Windows 9, and the saying "Windows 7 8 9" became popular.
Nobody has said why they changed their mind, all of the "improvements" (and they do exist) in Windows 11 could have just been the continuous and incremental improvements of Windows 10. But I think Microsoft is feeling the hit, or pressure, from Google and Apple (and Amazon/AWS to an extent) having spy devices in everyone's pocket/backpack/car/home. So windows 11 emulates a lot of those "features" and enables the AI intrusion and data-mining that have been making billions of dollars for the other companies.
I say that with 8 different Windows-11 devices in my home as a type.
Sorry to hijack your post Chris, but I am glad to see you back!
