I used the Hasegawa 1/48 RF-4B USMC kit to build this USAF RF-4C assigned to the 16th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron of the 363rd Tactical Reconnaissance Wing stationed at Shaw AFB and flown by Capt. Bueker. Unfortunately the kit does not have extended slats or flaps so it is not a totally realistic takeoff configuration. But I think it looks cool anyway!
The paints are Gunze lacquer based acrylics.
The decals are a mix from the AirDoc Gulf War Warrior 48006 set and custom home made decals. The tail number is not accurate but matches the wishes of the pilot.
The acrylic rod is a mixture of layer of Gunze oranges and Tamiya clear yellow and orange.
The base print was created by making a screen capture from Google maps of Runway 27 at Memphis International airport!
This was my first try at making an inflight configuration and I think it really sets the model to life while still getting to show off some of the landing gear detail.
Comments and critiques are always welcomed.
Thanks for looking!
