German WW11 battle tank KO'd

This battery operated German tank I purchased for my grand son. He is an adult now while the tank has been mothballed for years in the loft, The radio controls are missing and the battery will be flat. He loved this tank but his mother did not approve of it running around the house firing yellow plastic balls at the cat. Seems a shame to scrap it as it makes a good static model. Any ideas how I could get it running again for him (a surprise present from the past)-Robin Liverpool

I've got the exact same one in my garage. Did yours produce smoke too?

I've got the control but lost the battery and charger.

I'd imagine getting a suitable battery shouldn't be too difficult. Try any rc shop?
