I purchased this kit quite awhile ago along with some of the extras. My wife's Uncle Al, who was also our son's godfather, commanded an M10 at the Battle of the Bulge. His M10 was destroyed killing two of his crew and wounding Uncle Al. He was awarded the Purple Heart as a result. He did not talk about it much, but I have been doing some research with the internet and knowing where he trained, and that he arrived in Europe after D-Day, leads me to believe he served in the 609th Tank Destroyer Battalion. A friend of mine, a retired colonel, also provided me with some reference material.

I had been trying to get my modeling chops back with a couple 1:144 WWII bomber kits. While those results were less than satisfactory, I decided this evening to set them aside, pull this from the stash and get cracking.

Wish me luck.

Cool subject :) Though I kind of wonder what you need the HVSS set for :) Also an interesting photo of who I presume to be Uncle Al on the front of either an M32 or an M32B3 TRV — not a variant you see a lot, as most photos seem to be of cast-hull M32B1s.

I doubt I will be using the HVSS. I ordered that when I ordered the kit. It will be placed instock for future use.

Yes, that is youngster Uncle Al when he was in training in Swift TX. Always liked the helmet cocked to one side. Just a kid from Detroit.
