Started this one today. I'm still waiting for a photoetch kit another crew set and a set of aftermarket tracks to come in.

I decided to remove the molded in weld beads and replace them with putty weld beads and I also enhanced the flame cut marks.

I am trying a new lens for a camera for close up photos. They aren't turning out the way I hoped.

I am going to be building a base/diorama for the model, that's why I have so many accessories for it. With the crew sets I'm getting I'm going to mix and match the figures so I can get the scene I want.
What do you use to apply the putty weld beads?

I haven't forgotten about the Tiger. Got started last night with laying out the diorama

Got started on the diorama with a road mad from clay. Now I just have to wait for it to dry.

Here is the road with track impressions in it as well as foot prints.

I have more work to do with the clay, but I am going to everything a little bit at a time.

Looks good!

I've not built a base or diorama since the 1990s, REALLY need to step up my game!

I'm keeping it modest for my 1st try, just a grass airfield for a plane, so some dirt and grass is all I intend to try.

My only problem with the base is the grass, I really need to get a static grass applicator. Just been to lazy to get one.

I have several [tea strainers], I will need to try that.
Just put static grass in and lightly shake/tap it over the diorama, this will sprinkle the grass much more evenly than you can with your fingers.

OTOH, real grass usually grows in clumps rather than neatly and evenly spread out over an area. You only get that on proper lawns, in parks, on sports fields etc.

A tea strainer works too, is my experience :)
The strainer helps the grass hit the base on the end instead of "sideways"? Guess you'd need a layer of really sticky glue to keep it from falling over.

I cannot comment on how well or poorly something like this works, but for under $10 it seems like it is worth a try, I suspect it will cost more like $25 today.
