Ola Guys

A long time ago I purchased three Star Wars spaceships in Full PE from the Steelcraft Brand. With the MPC Tie Interceptor on the way I decided to take a crack at the Full PE Tie Interceptor to get into the swing of things.

Well these were the kits I bought. There is no scale listed on either the Tie Fighter as the Interceptor. The Star destroyer is in scale 1:20.000

Anyway... Back to the Interceptor. This is what you get inside the tin.

It has not much parts but at this scale it proved to be quite a challenge. The PE is quite thick and does not fold all that easy. I could have annealed it first but I decided not to do that as that tends the metal to change color and I love the shiny metal in this case. I started with the characteristic wings of the Interceptor. Consisting of 4 parts each. More parts were added to that later.

In the meantime my MPC Interceptor arrived. And for a fun size comparison. Here is the PE wing on top of the MPC wing.

After that I still had a bunch of PE left. Some parts I had not even a clue of where they needed to go. It did not help much that the instruction sheet of the kit was of a Tie Fighter that did not mention any of the parts on the fret.

Then it was time to start assembling the Cockpitbubble and the wingstruts. My god that cockpit was a challenge. But after an evenings worth of new cursewords it was done. The Cockpit and the struts consist of 7 parts. Then some 8 parts added additional detail. It was also an evening in which not much was Photographed. And I only have one picture of the finished result.

And to give an even better idea of size. Here it is alongside it's bigger styrene brother.

It will not be painted. I like it as it is now all steel. I'm planning to add some spaceimagery on the top of the base and paint the rod black.

That is really very cool. I had never heard of Steelcrafts before your post, now I'll have to check out some of the other kits they produce.

Ola guys

@ Scott, Quaralane and JMac
Thanks all for the compliments.

@ JMac
There are a few other kits from Steelcraft of Star Wars vehicles. Aside the Tie Interceptor, Tie Fighter and Stardestroyer they also have a Millenium Falcon, AT AT and AT ST.

Excellent! I'd love to get one of these but I'm useless with photo etch lol.

Ola Guys

Thanks all for the compliments.

@ John.
It is not that hard but one of the folding tools that are available is definately a must for constructing these kits.

@ Browns
Yeah it were some hours of wonderfull colorful language... But if the result looks like that I can only be happy.

Wow  this is tiny but very wicked, super detail stuff.

Nice job buddy, i like that you're not going to paint this.

@ Gag
Thanks a lot for the compliments. It is an absolute fun little kit.

I have a few more pictures. I also have to add that when I took these pics I mounted it upside down on the rod. So actually you look at the bottom of the cockpit bubble. I have however fixed that by now.

Did some photoshopping too and ended up with something to stick on top of the base. Going to print it tomorrow at my work.

Wow that's sure seems like tons of work. Very cool though and it sure is tiny

@ Blakeh
It was not too bad. The Interceptor was built in 2 evenings. The Tie Fighter should go quicker. Less Folding to do.

In the meantime I printed my graphic at my work. The joys of working in a copyshop. Superb quality print on the best papers. Cut it out. With a black marker I made the edges of the cut paper black and ready was freddy. This evening I glued it on top of the base. Painted the stalk black and finished was this project.

And now we return to armor... got a Merc L1500 to paint.

Ola guys.

I want to thank you all for the kind words and compliments.

To everyone thinking about buying these kits. They are not directly cheap if you see what you get. But the detail is fantastic. And allthough challenging on some points. I think they are well worth their price.
