Good Afternoon,
I have just come into the Modelling Hobby, except my local Hobby Store deal's in Remote's & Train's more then anything else... I have a 1:44 (or 1:144?) A1 Abraham Model Tank & Nothing Else ... I am completely new, i have never built a Model Kit in my Life & Only got into Hobby Kit's after I was told I have Cancer and there aint nothing they can do about it...

I am not going to let it get the Best of me, I am going to beat it ... but it has lead my to a new Hobby that I look forward to Enjoying... My Question, How do I built a Kit? is there any Step by Step with Explanation's via YouTube or Here that can help me? are there any Video's or Step by Step Picture's on how to Paint that show's how to do it (including type's of paint's, safety tip's & mixer's etc...)...

Alot of Question's, but I really want to build this Kit and Start another, I want to be as good as possible at this & would like some help, thank you :)

I am 27yrs old, been married for only 4 month's to a chinese filipino girl (the most Beautiful Woman Alive to me), told i was going to die 1month ago in 1yr, I am not letting that happen!! & now a new found Model Kit Enthusiast with my Beautiful Wife :) ...

But we both aint never built a Model Kit or Seen a Model Kit... Please help :)

You have my prayers on the cancer.
And there are several good modelling how-to links out there. I just don't have them.
Although you can probably reach a good number of them from Scott's Youtube page

Thank you all for your Help & Advice,
I have purchased Plastic Clippers, 3 set's of File's, a Plastic Glue with a Brush in it ... But for Paint's, do I need a thinner or similar? Should I use the Enamel Paint available at the Hobby Store? or should I use different Paint's? What Paint Brand's would you all recommend?

Thank You :)

I am still pretty new with this too (I did build when I was like 10-12 but yeah I stoped after a while :p anyway back to your question! :)

for now I only use Tamiya's paint. in (jar) I think the name is?

There is great videos out there on the tube, how you easy work with spray can

your local playz were you did but the other stuff. they should sell this too.

just my tip's.
hope they might help you.
I am sure other here got better advice then me :)

Ditch the enamel paint and go with acrylic. Easier to use, easier to clean up, easier to fix mistakes with, and they don't smell.

I recommend Vallejo above all others.

Welcome to the gang, quinmalkiq. I'd say you've found one of the best hobbies there is and that it will hopefully help you both a great deal. There are loads of forums to look at, and all are full of people who are of tremendous help with hints and tips, and who are all great fun to talk to. I'm fairly sure all would say to you, as I do, that you should just jump in and have fun ;).

For starting your first kit there are loads of helpful vids to look at, but if you just want to cut to the chase then sit down at a table, get all the parts sprues out of the box, lay the plans out and just browse through the instructions and the parts so you can see what goes where, in what sequence and are familier with everything. When you do make a start test fit parts before you do any gluing so you know they're okay. Most important of all, have fun and don't worry about doing things in the wrong sequence. If you fancy building the turret before the plans say you should...do it. ;D

Here are some links to forums I'm on so you can be tempted further into the murky world of plastic, glue n' paint! Hope you both enjoy this wonderful, creative hobby.
