F-51D

Hi,
My next model will be a Mustang 1/32 from Tamiya: "North American F-51D Korean war" and I do have doubts on the metallic paint to use: I know that there are plenty options but what would you recommend for an amateur using airbrush? Xtreme metal, Alclad???
Also, after metallic paint, any particular caution to do weathering with enamel wash and oil paints?
All tips are welcome if anyone has built this or similar model.

The main wing panel lines were puttied and the wing painted metallic silver. The rest of the panels were NMF.
I like using Alclad for the NMF and any silver lacquer or enamel for the painted wing segments.

Do you need to use a special primer before applying metal color (Alclad) or Mr Surfacer 1500 is ok?

Engine and cockpit assembled and painted. Ready to go into the fuselage

I used 3D decals for the cockpit and even if green colors do not match, I find results quite good

There’s this stuff folks say they’re really good. Vallejo Metal Color. I do know Hobby Lobby carries them.

Thanks... not sure what will be the next one. Maybe a Vought F4U even if the 1/32 models are more complicated (I think) than the 1/48.
