Eduard 1/48 Bf 109F-4 Trop

Taking a break from my Lancaster build (which I'm just not enjoying right now) for this Eduard Bf 109F-4 Weekend Edition. I'll be finishing it in the box art colors of Luftwaffe ace and Knight's Cross recipient Hans-Joachim Marseille. He both made his name and met his end in the North African theater. Been really looking forward to this one.

Added some PE seatbelts from the stash and will cut a new gunsight as well (the kit part has a seam through it). Otherwise not planning any mods.

Still need to finish my G-14 and have an "Emil" pre-ordered. Love them both and will probably get a K someday. But the F-model was the best looking IMO.

Yeah, the F is great looking kite, especially in desert colors. I've got a G-6 in the stash and will likely add a G-10 or -14 at some point. I'd like to build one with Eastern Front winter camo.

All the Eduard kits I've done so far with square gunsights have had the seam, unfortunately. Although the Spitfire Mk Vc I built called for an alternate circular gunsight that was clean. It's an annoying oversight by an otherwise great company, but easy enough to cut a replacement.

Eduard makes a nicely detailed cockpit, though I did have to cut a locator pin off the instrument panel to get it to fit properly. I also should've cut the instrument panel decal into pieces before applying it. Otherwise everything went together nicely. I've been chewing over whether to display the canopy open or closed but I think I'm going to go with the later. The 109 just looks awkward with the side-hinged lid hanging open. I'll save the open canopy for a Profipack 109G I have in the stash.
