Hi! New to the forum, looking for feedback and advice. I am working on a captured BF 110C (1/48 Eduard). I would like to portray it close to what it may have looked like after the repairs, repaint, and some testing Duxford.

Construction was very challenging, as many others have pointed out who've built this (old) Eduard kit. Paint job is almost done, some corrections here and there. I am using RAF roundels from other kits as a template to make stencils with and will airbrush the roundels on. I was thinking of skipping over the stencils as the original labels, etc. would have been painted over. Other than the obvious discrepancies on parts of the camo pattern, any constructive feedback would be appreciated.

Welcome!

The build looks great! I've got an old Squadron/Signal book about the Luftwaffe's KG200, which tested captured Allied aircraft. Always thought it would be cool to build one.

Thanks! KG 200 is fascinating, they did all kinds of special operations. The B17 with the giant tail markings is a bit unsettling but I would also like to do a captured RAF aircraft in german markings at some point. Or a japanese 109!

This is a great subject matter. There are famous examples of this, the US-Zero, the Nazi-Mustang & Jug, several others. Could be an entire shelf in the cabinet!

Hi and welcome to the forum. Pantherman

Working on some more details while waiting for the roundel paint to dry, I saved a few cockpit details to paint/add towards the end of the build and I will have to add them before I permanently fix the canopy. The exhausts are basecoated with metallic black/burnt iron and I will be using vallejo acrylic rust colors and pigments to weather. Still some work to do adding the landing gear supports, since I will be displaying the model gear down I will probably replace a couple of plastic parts with thin copper rods for some extra support (this Eduard kit is no exception to thin plastic fiddly landing gear)

Some touchups will be necessary but so far I like the look of sprayed on roundels. Unfortunately I wasn't careful enough handling the underside and will have to touch up the yellow basecoat as well before gloss coat and oil wash. I do plan to do more chipping (AK pencil probably) after the second clear coat so some of the imperfections of the roundels will fit the weathered look just fine.

Little more detail work in the cockpit and canopy this weekend. Won't risk gluing some of the canopy handles and the gunsight on the MG 15 until the very end :) Almost ready for gloss coat and oil weathering! Planning on mixing a deep dark green and red/brown panel line wash out of oils and spraying and tamiya smoke/brown for the exhaust stains.

The 110 canopy was as bad as was the JU88, Me410, or HE111 as far as masking. But I did a Kate recently that took the prize on worst.
