Evenin folks. Back with another build. This time I'll be putting together the Astray Red Frame MS from Gundam SEED Destiny. Here's some backstory on it.

The MBF-P02 Astray Red Frame is a prototype combat mobile suit developed using stolen data from the Earth Alliance's G Project. Most of the technology from the G Project was successfully copied with the exception of Phase Shift armor. In its place the Astrays' designers made the machines out of a lighter foaming metal compound and were built with minimal armor over the frame. This made the Astray mobile suits lighter and faster than their G Project counterparts.
Originally, the Astray Red Frame was armed with the standard armament of the other prototype Astray suits. These weapons include two head-mounted "Igelstellung" 75mm multi-barrel CIWS, two back-mounted beam sabers for close combat, a Type 71 beam rifle and a single physical shield. Red Frame pilot Lowe Guele eventually added another piece of armament to the Red Frame standard armament, which is the "Gerbera Straight" katana. Lowe also created a 150 meters long version of this sword, which however can't be carried by the Red Frame in its normal configuration.

When equipped with the "Mars Jacket" armor, additional armament is added to the suit. These additional weapons include two katanas, two high-energy beam cannons, a single high-energy beam cannon and a dual beam naginata.

Unlike the other Astray units, the Red Frame had an additional feature, which could be used as a weapon. Like other mobile suits that use beam weapons, the Red Frame is equipped with hand plugs to exchange energy with weapons the suit carries. The Red Frame has the ability to emit beam weapon-like energy from his hand plugs which could be used as a emergency weapon, for example to temporarily blind enemies.

On to the box art!

Head and torso together. This kit won't take me nearly as long as the MSA 0011... speeding along quite nicely. C&C welcome!

Very cool looking MS! What are you thinking as far as paint? Stock or custom? A good start so far!

Thank you! You know to be honest, i haven't figured out what I'd like to do just yet... I sort of considered a burgundy, gunmetal, and off white... just to keep it somewhat to its original color scheme. Although, I bought a bunch of Tamiya paints at HT that I've been dying to use....

Ok, so tonight I have arm assembly to show. We'll start off with the shoulder...

Then off to the rest of the arm.

I really love the highly detailed style of this MS.
I was so impressed when I first saw it hit the market years ago, that I snatched up a few of them. I still haven't built any (Maybe my wife is right, and I do have some hoarder tendencies. :) ) But, I want to get the MG version. Thanx for sharing your building updates with us!
;D ;D ;D

The Astray is a very good kit. My brother just finished a custom "Blue Frame" a couple of weeks back. It nice to see how others approach their builds! I have a PG 1/60 Red Frame but that is well buried in the back log. Enjoying your post and More Power!

Afternoon folks, back with another update... Getting right back into things, we'll be starting with the feet and start working our way up to the legs and waist - final assembly...

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the MSA to stand up full to show off the size differences between the two, however, on the stand and level, the Red Frames head comes up the where the rifle rests, if that helps. There's still some finishing touches that need to be added to the Red Frames torso area that I missed the first time around, as well as weaponry. I'm still trying to figure out color ideas, so if any of you have any suggestions, feel free to say something. Other than that, this puppy is pretty much done, and as always, C&C is welcome! Thanks for following, folks!
