Woa! Fast work! Clean looking. Handsome brute of a plane.
Like my son keeps reminding me, if you are in the zone (45-70), fit or no, and shovelling, heart attacks are indiscriminate.not looking forward to shoveling
I assume you mean the HUD (head up display)? That's awesome. And thank you. There is clear styrene piece that goes on the dashboard inside the front canopy that I didn't know what it was or how to paint it. The instructions just tell you to mask it but don't tell you what color or what part of it to paint. Now I know
Hey! Your A-10 is the same colour as mine! What are the chances?First step of painting done. This is dark ghost grey and light ghost grey. Both FS numbers match the actual aircraft. They are very similar which made painting it a challenge. Definitely a tint of blue which I feel is unusual for an Airforce aircraft..View attachment 181839View attachment 181840View attachment 181843
When I was a kid I didn't put the landing gear on. I liked to play with them. Now from a display standpoint point you kind of need the landing gear. But I still do canopy closed. I think they look cooler.Nice! I've yet to try my hand at landing gear on my first plane; sounds like it is often the bane of aircraft modelers...
Yours looks pretty good, and the plane seems to be sitting solidly on it's tricycle!
I prefer to display my builds as "in flight" for two reasons: 1: It's an airplane. 2: A lot of kits have pretty poor landing gear, although recent production seems to have improved a lot.sounds like it is often the bane of aircraft modelers...
Do you put them on some kind of stand or just belly down? Because for example this one has a big fuel tank right in the middle and will sit tilted to one side.I prefer to display my builds as "in flight" for two reasons: 1: It's an airplane. 2: A lot of kits have pretty poor landing gear, although recent production seems to have improved a lot.
I make clear plastic stands. For jets I put a clear plastic rods in the exhaust cone(s).Do you put them on some kind of stand or just belly down? Because for example this one has a big fuel tank right in the middle and will sit tilted to one side.
I have a Hasegawa F-35A in the stash that came with a stand, and I plan to use it.Occasionally Hasegawa will have the odd one included.

Great! I was planning on using the sameVallejo Air. The light ghost grey is actually a primer but looks just as good as a paint.
Slightly after the Ice Age, when I built my first models, most of them came with "in flight" stands in the kit.Academy actually makes some after market clear stands, but they also involve cutting holes in the model to fit the slot into, although a few Academy kits come with a built in slot ( the 1/72 TBF Avenger comes to mind)
As an aside, this is really something I wish more model companies would consider with giving clear In flight display stands. Occasionally Hasegawa will have the odd one included, but more often then not they just assume everyone wants a gear down version. But if that is the case why don't they give positionable flap and slat options so you can accurately represent them in gear down mode?
Sorry for the rambling "that's what grinds my gears rant".…
