This is the newer/updated Hasegawa one

I choose the Battle of Midway deck markings

I remember one of the US dive bomber pilots (Dusty Kleiss I think) describing the Rising Sun painted on the decks as being like a giant bulls-eye target. Although that was a reference to the Kaga specifically



At any rate, not 100% done as I forgot to put some AA guns on the starboard side and I also have to put up the antenna towers and flags as well as finish some of the aircraft

but for now...

Your work is very impressive! I remember the original "Midway" movie from the 70's. It was the first movie utilizing Surround Sound. Your Akagi is spot on!

color for the flight deck was indeed Tamiya XF-55 Deck Tan

The deck tan by itself seemed too pristine and "new" looking so I then gave it a very thinned wash of Burnt Sienna oils as well as a more selective and thinned wash using P3 brown wash (really kind of a rusty reddish brown) and Army Painter's Strong Tone wash for more darker grimy areas
The P3 brown ink wash added some overall reddish tones which shows as the reddish areas on the sides of front of the flight deck in the one forward facing pic

Yep, that is the one

I use it mostly for figure painting as a skin tone wash, but found it useful here

Just make sure to really thin it down as it is a very strong color

as in it is better to do some very very light washes and build up
