One of the other issues with this kit. The white resin piece came with the kit, the drawing shows the true scale, while I made a replacement out of balsa.
An even more out of scale piece. The strip to the left is what the balsa pieces are made out of by laminatinating them three layers wide and three high.
This is the Reloadable Motor System. It uses reloads which consist of a graphite engine nozzle, ignitor, delay charge, ejection charge, solid fuel grains and assorted rubber O rings and spacers where applicable. This is one source you can buy these from: https://www.apogeerockets.com/Rocke...ch-54mm-Propellant-Kit-J275W-14A?cPath=7_267&
The original resin capsule's shoulder was too large and I don't possess a lathe to turn it down. So I chucked this as well and found a company called Shapeways online who sent me a 3D printed capsule.
Thank you very much. It's been labor intensive to say the least due to its size. A lot of primer, fillers and paint. The glue has been minimal. It's all in the finishing. Just like doing body work on a car. The easy part was the actual building. Finishing is a bear. Masking things off is the Achilles Heel for me on this.
The SLA and IU from Shapeways. The two are separate pieces simply dry fitted for picture taking. The IU will be painted separately. Much easier than taping off.
