Howdy guys. My name is Monty and I'm new to the hobby, for the most part. I'm 67 yrs old, I live in Aggie land, Bryan Texas. When I was a youngster I used to put together a lot of models, but back then there really wasn't a place to go to learn. I had to try to figure things out. That Testors model glue back then was a mess! I didn't know how to properly glue. I think I blew most of them up with firecrackers because they were such poor builds I also got in to slot cars and HO trains. But, I had to ride my bike anywhere I wanted to go and I lived in Houston, so it was difficult to get to the slot car tracks. Anywho, life eventually took over, I got into other things like Boy Scouts, summer camps, camping and basically anything that has to do with the outdoors. I have 3 grown children. I got a BS degree in Geology from Texas A&M, but most of my jobs were as a Geophysicist, and later as an Engineer in the Semiconductor industry. I was in the Merchant Marines for 5 years. I'm an Eagle Scout. I graduated high school from New Mexico Military Institute. I spent 10 years as my father's full time caregiver when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. After he passed I sold most everything I had, bought a big cabin tent and spent 2 years living off the grid in the mountains of New Mexico as a self subscribed Mountain Man. My kids wanted me to come back to Texas so I moved back here in 2020, right before the Pandemic hit. Much to my dismay, because I was actually in a fine position to weather something catastrophic like that. So here I am, and I came across some YouTube videos of scale modelers doing their thing and I was amazed at how far the hobby had come. I've always enjoyed working with my hands, and especially intricate stuff. I decided to take the plunge and get to Modeling. Jumped right into the deep end. I have 5 kits to build. I've been procuring all the gear and tools. I'm looking forward to learning and visiting with like minded people. Ciao!
