Got this in the mail yesterday. Was $11. Simple kit thought I'd see how quickly I could build it. I think I spent about 2-3 hrs assembling and sanding last night. Primed and painted this morning.

I was seriously thinking to build that same kit!
I like it. The hull is a bunch of panels you have to put together- much like the whippet I'm doing. Directions and pic are misleading and vague. I've placed two hooks in the wrong spot and I think the back end is probably supposed to be slightly different. I didn't do any research before starting this kit tho. I was going for a speed build.

I'm not really an armor guy but lately I find myself interested in Israeli armor and happened to see that kit.
Then I would not recommend it. I'd get the Tamiya Merkava kit. That's a cool tank and a joy to build.

Just to clarify, for myself I'd start with a Tamiya kit but I'm also the guy that has a model half put together before I look at the instructions- you don't seem to be that way so bottom line I wasn't meaning to insult you by saying start with a Tamiya kit. I'm pretty sure you've been doing this a lot longer than me and I know you put more thought into your projects than I do!

Absolutely no offense taken by your comment Ron2 ! 👍
Ok cool. Sometimes, usually I don't put a whole lot of thought into how I reply. I have to be careful with my word choice all day long so when I'm online I tend to relax in that aspect.

Depends on whether there's a specific subject attached :) "Speed-build a 1:72 snap-together aircraft kit" vs. "Speed-build a MiniArt 1:35 tank kit with full interior" is rather a different ballgame ;)
Considering I just threw away a snap kit I'll pass on any speed builds for snap kits.

My build hit a speed bump. I'll weather it tomorrow. Tried a new gloss coat- Ak laq. Usually I use Ak acrylic. Not the best spray job but that's why I tried it on this model. Darn rubber tracks don't seem to like my spray primer, still sticky.

This got shoved to the back burner. Just a bit more and I'll be done. Tracks reacted to primer and took about 5-6 days to dry out. I've pin washed it, decals on, hit it with some dust, tracks on this am. I need to dust up the tracks and may hit the whole thing was some pastels for textured dust. I tried using this AZ heat to my advantage when I sprayed my dust on. I heavily thinned Ak buff with Ak thinner, which I believe does not have any retarder in it, held the brush away a good 6-8 " hoping the paint would dry a bit in the air and give it more texture. I didn't get it 100% but I also don't go too heavy on my weathering. Anyway, I'll do some final touch up, pastels, and seal it all in with a matte coat.

What primer did you use on the tracks? I've got the long rubber is tracks to my Tamiya T-72 to prime so I'm obviously curious.

I picked up some kind of miniature primer. I'll take a pic. The guys that do warhammer use it. Is the Tamiya kit newer? I know that some of the newer rubber tracks can handle laq paint but it'll say so in the directions. Otherwise I'd use acrylic. Naturally I looked at the label afterward and this has acetone and butyl acetate so lucky the tracks didn't just melt into oblivion!

I added a bit more dust and matte varnish. Rubber tracks came apart right before I took the pics. Good kit minus the tracks.
