I'm borrowing the title from the excellent book by Cormac McCarthy, and the good movie adaptation of the book.
This was a fun project. A nice change of pace as well, I've only built 1/16 German armour and a 1/200 battleship over the last few years.

What a scene!
Love the weathering, the details, like the buckled hood of the beetle.

Something about the figure poses, the decrepit vehicles, the terrain... the dio almost feels slow-mo and out of time.

Nicely done!

Wow Kevin!!!
There are those apocalypse figures you shared when I was painting the cops and victim last year. I was wondering when I would see them again.
I'm so sorry I originally missed this, but glad I stumbled upon it.

Great work!!! Love the details, fig painting, cars, everything.
Haven't read The Road, Cormac's books are so intensive- Last one I read was "No Country for Old Men". Of course the movie didn't do it justice, but movies seldom do, still a pretty good movie none the less. I'll pick up The Road and read it now, having your dio as a reference to it.
Epic work my friend, truly epic!
Thanks for sharing!

Going back and zooming into the photos, there's just so much to look at. The details, debris, paintwork, etc..
This tells a story, and leaves me wondering "what is happening"?
Well done, again!
So good it was worth a follow on post!

Thanks for the kind words, greatly appreciated.
Originally I got the girl with the shotgun as a side project to paint while working on the 1/200 USS IOWA, but one thing lead to another and here it is.
Yes, these are the 1/24 figures from Masterbox. The dio is a mix of scales. Figures, Land Rover and pick up are 1/24, police car and bug are 1/25, the guard rails and concrete dividers are 1/35. It's what I could scrap together for the scene. I think it works well enough, and no one would notice. However, @Edberts eagle eye saw it awhile ago. :)
The picture used for the background in some of the pics is one I took about thirty years ago in Death Valley National Park.
Inspiration is a mix of "The Road", walking dead, and "The Book of Eli".
I recommend both the book and movie for "The Road".

Well done-
As soon as I finished, did a deep dive and ordered The Road, I'd forgotten all about the movie with Viggo...
Thanks for the reco.
