Look what I noticed yesterday:

Gotha G.IV for €995.jpeg

This from the site of Gothaforce, a manufacturer/webshop that's focussed on First World War aircraft. (I only recently learned they even exist, and due to @Edbert's recent purchase and the biplane group build, I decided to browse their site a bit.)

Picked this bad boy up today, less than half what I see them sell for on evilbay, but still the most expensive kit I've ever bought.

Thinking I'll probably not built it. 73cm wingspan and crazy complicated.
I saw that or a similar wing it model at Andy's Friday. It was expensive and if it had been any other plane I'd probably have bought it. Why buy if you're not going to build it?

Becasue I walked away with it for $300 cash :-)

He didn't also happen to have watches and handbags in that trunk as well?! 😉
Close!

He had a bunch of tools and old gun parts, also tried to sell me this for half of the ebay-price.

But I was outta cash (luckilly) and have my on-deck full already.

I think I said he frequents garage sales and estate sales. If you know what you are buying you can make a living that way and it is tax-free too.

Edit to add...he was not a modeler, said he hasn't built one since a kid (and he was definitely over 50yo), he just knows what stuff sells for I guess.

thunder models.
I have a few kits from them, found them because of love of soft skin desert vehicles and trucks. The kits are very detailed, and this particular series was designed in conjunction with the LRDG Preservation Society.
They are available elsewhere, but I primarily order them from LG Models, who also carry Mirror Models.

This is a Mirror Morris build, and this is a Thunder Scammel build I hope to get into after the Vickers.

Neither are 'beginner kits', but the selection of CMP trucks is awesome, and their mix of materials, wire, resin, plastic and PE got me into scratch faster than I would've with more standard fare.

Wow that's some detail building!

I've been wanting to try a Meng kit and this looked unusual so I picked it up. I'm not British but I know a couple guys and a Canadian!
Seems like good detail. But the decals have me confused. Why the iron cross and hammer and sickle??

Thread sealer?
I was having problems with my airbrush, it was pulsing and air bubbles in the cup. So stripped it completely down and cleaned everything thoroughly. Put some water through and still got the pulsing. A friend said it might be a tiny gap around the nozzle or cone and suggested putting a little bee's wax around them to create a seal.

Got this stuff and put a tiny dot on all threads and where the nozzle sits into the body. Woks perfectly. Pantherman
