Full-auto (M14 or BAR) is insane (IMO), I've been shooting the 30-06 since I was 14, and cannot even see the impact with a bolt-action! The .308 or 7.62X51 isa not much different, I do not own a real M-14, but the M1A (google it) is essentially the same. Target acquisition between shots is mandatory unless the intent is just to keep them ducking!

Now, if I shoot my 6mm Remington (basically A Winchester .243) I can see the bullet travel if the lighting is right and impact.

About thirty years ago, I was skeet shooting with friends. 12 gauge, then 10 gauge.

All was fine until someone broke out the muzzle loader.

Advice?

Don't relax after pulling the trigger. I think I still have the shoulder bruise.

My dad had a double barrel 12ga, I told my little brother to pull both triggers- I had to pick him up off the ground. Haha

So when I was growing up, Evel Knievel was my hero. I had the AMF Evel Knievel bike. I'd take my dad's snow tires and stack them up on the edge of the drainage ditch at the end of the yard, and then put plywood on them to make a jump. I'd jump the "canyon" and do all sorts of death defying things. I got hurt a lot lol 😁

Absolutely! Evil knievel was the definition of cool back then!

My friends and I shot each other with BB guns when playing war. Not being ignorant of safety we wore dad's shop goggles, a football helmet and sometimes a big raincoat.
We did too except we had no thoughts about safety. Had the cops called on us a few times. Out of my group I think four joined the military and one became a cop. I was slated for military to until a girl got in the way.

Well, I have some bad news for you: Some real med do shave body hair—competitive swimmers. Unless you are a real aquatic animal (seal, otter, sea lion, etc., who have hair and glands adapted to prevent it) body hair can create appreciable drag.
I remember walking into the showers and seeing a swimmer shaving his legs in high school and all I could think was wtf??? Haha. Fortunately it was a friend of mine that I considered "manly" so I asked him what the heck he was doing and he explained it.
