I needed a cool jet to make into a salt car and the U2 spy plane fit the bill perfectly. Its an inexpensive kit little detail no engine. Gave it some wheels used a toothpaste cap as an exhaust nozzle. The kit is cast in black i shot the top with testors translucent jade green and the bottom silver letting the colors fog together.

Gotta say it, I know you named it 'land shark' but I'm seeing salamander all over that colour scheme!
Especially that last shot, looks like the bulging eyes up towards the front!

That is fantastic, the first thing I thought of when I saw it was Craig Breedlove's Spirit of America.
I remember as a kid (around 1970 or so) my father took me somewhere to look at these things. I remember thinking they were so big and beautiful.
I had to go to the Museum of American Speed to get a look at it again. I'd all but forgotten about these guys pushing the limits of technology and science to push the land speed record.

They were so far ahead of their time it was crazy. I have that one and the white one in diecast. A few reasons i really like LSRs is most are total privateers with only part sponsor money, no teams no beholding to anyone but God. I have lets say conversations with people about land speed compared to drag racing. Yes your passing the 1/4 mile as fast as you can, but traveling 5 miles the1 mile in the middle with your foot to the wood and then the rest trying to stop on one of the most unforgiving surfaces on earth is a whole different world. Then if you want the record you have to turn it around and run back within 30 mins. I have an appropriately named LSR i will be posting later tonight. ;)

Yeah, its crazy. Ive been to Salt Lake a few times as an adult, watching the attempts (and sadly, failures, sometimes fatal). Pushing boundaries means sometimes, the boundaries push back.
They're amazing machines and your models are fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
