I assembled these almost a year ago, put them up intending to paint them later, forgot about them until yesterday. I decided that it is the later I intended so I painted them over today and yesterday.

Speaking of painting these ships.
I used Vallejo primers, let set for almost 2 days and then even letting it sit for so long the primer still peeled up when I removed the masking tape-did I do something wrong, is this problem with Vallejo, or was this a chance occurrence?

What tape did you use? I use Tamiya's tape with vallejo paints and haven't had any problems.... yet. Pantherman

I've had issues with tape in the past. I've never solved it, sorry.

I am interested to see how your ships come out, I'm putting one together now. I'm not painting it though.

I've heard about this happening before from people I know, with simple masking tape yanking the paint off right down to the bare plastic. This is exactly why I'm very hesitant to ever use any Vallejo paints.

I've been using the vallejo primers for about 3 months now and that is the first time it has happened to me. It is entirely possible that the primer pulled up due to the age of the plastic. the models were from the early 70's.

Those are some classics for sure. If your a Yamato fan, they have done a updated version of the 70s stuff with much better animation and even better models using Bandai's modern toolings
