I think he's referring to the part count. He's doing the 1/350 guns straight from the box, I got the 1/200 with the Pontos PE kit.

Decided to start installing some of the numerous small parts I have been working on.
Well, from far its not bad, but from close, lots of imperfections. And handrails will be another challenge. Learning..

That last shot of the bow is epic!

...working closely for long periods of time always seems to amplify little imperfections for me.

As all the details come together, we'll be hard pressed to notice one slightly out of tune string on the 3rd viola in that symphony of a ship you are orchestrating!

This looks really nice. What size chain did you use for the anchors? I have been looking at jewelers chain but can't seem to find one that looks right.
Tim,

I got those with the additional wooden deck. Each link is +/- 1mm in length. Probably a bit smaller but it works

Thanks Chris

Thanks, appreciate. Details are far from perfect but if not looking from close, looks ok.
One of the last step which worries me, is the installation of the handrails around the deck. Will find out later.
Starting the superstructure.

I am not convinced by the planes (Curtiss SC-1 Seahawks) coming with the kits (see below pic).
I am far from getting at the stage of installing those, however, looking at options.
Any suggestion on aftermarket replacements?

Those must be Wonder Woman's invisible planes.

Another question: there are "baskets for floatation devices ?" around the deck and superstructure.
What are those floatation devices? Life jackets??

They are nets with cork buoys on them. They weren't secured so if the ship sank the nets would stay on the surface for the surviving crew if my memory is right, and if I am wrong feel free to correct me :)
