And 20 Bofors ready for painting. Lot less parts than on the USS IOWA from Kevin, but still a lot of time to assemble and to glue the handrails.

Question for the experts: what are those boxes (ref M21)?
Ammo, life jackets, ?? To be painted grey?

And deck glued to hull... Not perfect but ok. Will do some small touch up later on.
Next time, if I do another battleship, will probably glue the deck to the hull before painting them.

HI IN answer to your qeustion i think they are life jacket boxes as by lookin at your ship there are no close up to them guns as the closest guns i can see are up towards the bow an yes i think its grey but this is just my opinion but ask Kevin as he is building a battle wagon or Jakko as he is quite knowable

From my reference book, the boxes are the ammunition lockers for the 20mms, there are floater baskets close by and throughout the ship.

Unless they fall into the camo pattern, if you are painting one.

WELL Kevin on his instructions it dont show any guns but i think you are right as he may get the guns shown on the next page

Why is that? I thought the Iowa and Big Mo were sister-ships, essentially the same.

I think he's referring to the part count. He's doing the 1/350 guns straight from the box, I got the 1/200 with the Pontos PE kit.

yes, mine are a lot simpler.. even do, smaller scale does not make it easy!

And 40 ammunition lockers painted after primer.
Sanding was not great but a bit too small to do a proper job without removing the details

The 20mm anti-aircraft cannons assembled (x 48!).. Should have ordered 3d printed ones, and may still do as I am not sure the PE are well glued.
Will find out when painting them.

Well, from far its not bad, but from close, lots of imperfections. And handrails will be another challenge. Learning..

That last shot of the bow is epic!

...working closely for long periods of time always seems to amplify little imperfections for me.

As all the details come together, we'll be hard pressed to notice one slightly out of tune string on the 3rd viola in that symphony of a ship you are orchestrating!

That is a cowl mounted MG from a Zero-Kamikaze stuck on the 40mm (?) AAA.

This looks really nice. What size chain did you use for the anchors? I have been looking at jewelers chain but can't seem to find one that looks right.
