Stuka 1/48

Looking good. Display space....always the bane of a keen model maker. I must admit when I was a kid I do remember walking into the bedroom of a friends older brother and seeing dozens of planes hanging from the ceiling. I can still picture it and still think....wow.

Phil
Phil, my bedroom ceiling as a young boy was covered in plane's, it was many many many years ago! Didn't touch another model for 45 years until it was suggested that I need a hobby to ease work stress. Started again almost a year ago and now I'm so far down the rabbit hole it would take a JCB excavator to stop me.

It is a great stress reliever, until that one little part *PING* goes sailing across the room never to be seen again. :Dlol

This is how my bench started out. All I had was Testors paint bottles and used my old watercolor brushes to paint with. Then I bought a spice rack to support more paints. That last pic is how it was until recently when I was able to get the Vallejo paint racks.
The space got smaller and smaller. Lol
So, it seems it's time to "Pantherman" my bench by organizing the table in a more conducive manner. :)

Gary, that's a great improvement, I can now sleep at night not having to dream about cleaning up your bench!
Loving the beer bottle brush holder.....possibly.
I like the "Pantherman my bench ", I might use that expression in the future.

Great work places...love them. Gary, yours is akin to mine when I am working. Bits and pieces everywhere. Pantherman, sorry mate but I am thinking you might need a bit of help. I mean who has a clean and tidy desk halfway through constructing a kit....

Phil, you're right, I have a problem but my bench is cleared, cleaned and left tidy ready for the next visit. I even make sure that the labels are all the correct way round on the paint pot's. I'm sad.

Actually I forgot that bottle was there. It's one of our locals (Karboch Brewing) sporting the Houston Astoros logo.
This year's World Series made me a little nervous. The Philadelphia Phillies played really well.

I can't believe I actually pulled this off. My version of the splinter camouflage. I do have a smudge that I'll either have to blend back in or weather it. Other than that, it seems OK.

Very interesting build this. As you know I am not a plane guy, but I am liking what I see. The paint scheme looks rather complicated. Did you use Tamiya masking tape for this?

Thanks, Phil.
No, I don't have any Tamiya I just plain blue Painter's tape.
If I build another Stuka, it will be a different brand. This one is by Revell and is a very simple build.
The camo wasn't that bad, just a little time consuming but fun.

Gary

Thanks for that Gary. So the painters tape didn't take off any of the paint when you removed it? Reason I ask is because it did with me and I am wondering what I did wrong.

Did you wash the build before priming to get off any finger oil? I always use disposable gloves when priming and painting just in case.

I've used Post-It notes for the German splinter camouflage, too. Low tack, and you can make sharp edges as desired.
You can also lift the edges just a bit, with knife blade tip or a toothpick, to soften the edges.

No, surprisingly enough. I was afraid of that too. I used Vallejo paint.
On my B-17 that is how I achieved paint chipping. I primed it, painted chrome, then camo-green. I let it dry for a day or longer between coats then applied tape and lifted up quickly giving me the desired effect.

These are the only pics I could find. I have a couple more but I cannot find them.
The paint I used was regular Krylon. That is before I have an airbrush.
