Hey everyone. Im just in the process of starting to build Aircraft and Armor Vehicles. Im looking to purchase some products to be able to take my first stab at weathering the Armor vehicles and Aircraft. What products would you consider to be a basic package for a novice to start weathering models ? What products and by what manufacturer would you recommend that I purchase to weather my first aircraft or armor vehicle ? Pigments, Washes, Filters, Chalks etc ? Any product and by what manufacturer you feel would be a good starter package for a Novice ? As you all know Im on Disability and only paid once a month so I need to make my model purchases the first of the month and would like to make the weathering products purchase the beginning of August so any info in regards to these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

AK Interactive has a great line that I've used on a few kits. Easy to work with and great effects.

In the end, it's what you want to do for effects and what your budget can afford. I suggest taking your time and research each mentioned here and then come to a decision. I've seen some great kits weathered using nothing more than pastels ground up and dusted on.

Regards

I started w the tamiya powder sets when there was nothing else around here but now I'd +1 the ak products.
Maybe start with their great magazines that give great tips and tricks and should point you towards the products you need.

used this since january, works great, first you apply the rust, then apply the dark warsh, thin put on goss sealer, then dust, rustn dust, and it only costs 20.00 USD

This looks like the old "Rustall". I've never had much luck with it. Probably just me.

Probably is just the Rust-All system, Micro Mark has a bad habit of taking other's property, copying it and selling it for themselves. Not a place I would support.

As a beginner myself i really recommend the AK line, you can buy a kit for your purpose (i.e German armor , aircraft etc...) or buy individual bottles, the price is the the same and they are cheaper than the MIG.

They are really easy to use and there is a lot of demo videos on Youtube.

I also recommend the weathering magazines (http://www.ak-interactive-usa.com/books.html) i got them in digital version, they are a great source of info and not AK specific

Good luck!
