Hi.

Im corently painting a F14 tomcat from Tamiya. For the base color i have use tamiyas spray AS 25/26. I wanna apply a wash to make it more detailed. I know how to use a wash, but having problems on making one. So i wondering can i use the Tamiya XF and X series paint and mix it with Tamiyas thinner and some water? Or are other paints better to use? And how do i mix it(what volums of each)?

thx for the help

From what I gather, its easier to make a wash out of the oppostire type of paint so as to prevent marring the original finish. If your base is Acrylic, then make an enamel wash out of a bit of enamel thinner and just enough dark paint to fill in the panel lines. I wouldnt imagine it to be a requirement, seeings as you could use acrylics for a pin wash. Some inks and such I know are used to enhance panel lines.

If I had to recommend a product though, I would say to go with either AK or MiG pigments and washes to achieve your goals. i've had great luck with both.

Good Luck
