I use friuls almost exclusiely. Normally, after treating with blacken it or patina, I apply a wash of black sepia and then burnt sienna, or some variation there of.
The project in question however is a DAK vehicle--my first. I would like to know what way this should change my repetoire of washes. I am thinking of mixing burnt sienna with a yellow ochre to better simulate desert sand. What say you?

I think a lighter, tan-coloured wash is definately the way to go. I've had pretty good results with MIG pigments Desert Sand thinned with a 50/50 mix of water and alcohol. It simulates dusty build-up perfectly.
