Vaught F4U-1A Corsair (1/48 scale Tamiya)

A very nice Tamiya 1/48 scale kit. The dropped flaps, a canopy that you can open to show off all of your detail inside and detailed wheel wells and landing gear is a nice touch. This bird sports the tri-color scheme. The Navy dark blue on top was a tough color to portray since it is so dark. My decal markings portray the few months in 1943 where the roundel had a red outline on it, but was soon removed because of recognition, they thought it might be mistaken for a Japanese Red Hinomaru so they were quickly removed 3 months later. It was used until the end of the Korean war as a fighter/Bomber. A power house of machinery, speed and fire power!
