Tamiya Gold Leaf?

Just wandering, does anyone have experience airbrushing tamiya x-12 gold leaf? Is there a particular base color that works well with gold? I've sprayed it over grey primer and it looked ok, but I was just curious if you dudes had any particular gold painting techniques?

gold always best with a red under it must richer gold fin.
