Numbers of Panther Ds dwindled as the A and G were introduced, but I would not at all be surprised to find photos of Ds still in service in late 1944, let alone April or May 1945 when everything that could fight was thrown into the front line.

The main thing that marks your kit out as a "Kursk Panther" is the number of bolts around the outside of the wheels: only 16. They quickly discovered this was not enough, as the rims started breaking, and the quick fix was to double the number to 32 as this was easy to implement. After that, a slight redesign brought it to 24 bolts per wheel. If you don't care about such details then you can just keep the wheels as they are, of course.
I was referring to zimmerit being short lived.

Oh! I was wondering if you were, but decided you probably meant the Panther D :) Zimmerit lasted for a year or so, plus however long vehicles that already had it, survived, of course.

That's all good to know. There is no useless information. Here's some information some people might like. I love Tamia paints. When I have to brush paint everyone knows Tamia sucks so I was using the little glass tester bottles of enamel paint. If you put it on too thick Take 2 weeks to dry. It helps when you mix it with Mr color leveling thinner but I wanted something better. Andy's has this third generation acrylics setup and no one buys it. He set up a full rack and it just sits there. Is it any good? He didn't know. So I bought a while back some white and black and I used it last night on my plane just for brushing. Shook it up, couple drops in a little plastic paint cup had a drop or two of their thinner and painted some small pieces and was utterly astounded. Wow that went on good. No streaking. The pigment is smooth and thick and Rich. Vibrant even. Holy crap, it's already dry! Man that looks good! So I headed to Andy's satellite shop.

You should have asked! I mostly use the laq paints but ak3g is good for an acrylic.

So I hit a local shop today for some paint and walked out with an additional kit and some PE and resin kits. Two Eduard brassin sets. I don't even have the kits to build for these parts but he's got these on ridiculous clearance. The brasssin was $5 normally $60 the bagged items $1. I couldn't pass on that.

Just ordered the Meng 1:32 Fokker Dr1. Will look great with the Roden 1:32 Fokker F1 that I am slowly making progress on.

Also ordered Hasagawa's 1:450 Yamato with Eduard's PE detail set. Just read REQUIEM FOR A BATTLESHIP and felt the need to build this one.
I have the Tamiya 1/350 yamato with the Pontos advanced upgrade kit which I'm really looking forward to building. Pantherman

All about dependability, predictability and fit.
Especially with things like airbrushes, I'm pretty much convinced that when people try a different brand than they're used to, it often doesn't work as well for them because it's not the brand they're used to. I had just that when trying an H&S airbrush earlier this year, and when I let an H&S-user try my Iwata a few years ago, his opinion of it seems to have been about the same as mine was of the H&S.

That's true. My first airbrush was a pro boy. I used it a couple times and bought an H&S. I decided to pull it out and use one for 0.2 and one for 0.45 and I can't stand the pro boy now that I'm used to the H&S

This website is being bizzare again. Stopped at another shop today to get the paint the other shop didn't have. They didn't have it either so… this reminded me of the Whippet. Should be an interesting build since it appears there is no upper or lower shell.

Then later in the afternoon I stopped back at the first shop because I couldn't stop thinking about the PE for the F18. I picked all this up for $14. Now I have to buy an f18 trumpeter 1/32, an f104a, and an f15c Tamiya kit.

Not too surprising, the real thing is only about a year older :) (BTW, the name of the tank is just FT, not "FT-17" as almost everybody, including the box, calls it.)

And do I see that right that the kit comes with a trench diorama?

This may come to you as a surprise but I didn't pay attention. 🤣 I did notice there were pieces to make up landscaping- I assumed it was going to be a platform. Ah, yes. Here's a few pics.

Went to 1/2 price books for some more reading material and found these little gems. The first book is based off a recommendation from someone here (sorry I don't remember who), and the second book is the story of the Lost Battalion under the command of Maj. Charles Whittlesey.

Looks like you scored on the kits! That German armored car is interesting!

Is that from the Wild Bills in Arlington?

Dallas actually 6060 Mockingbird lane. My second home. Right now they have a 1/200 scale CV6 I'm eyeing. The lack of space is the only thing stopping me right now.
I'm closer to the Arlington store and it's about that time to make another visit. I love their discount section!
