I always loved the tail on this fighter, reading into it in the book it said
the tail is not a stock part but most of the fighters had them added on.
it also said it was almost impossible to find an original cloakshape fighter,
I thought that was cool it would give me room to do my own thing with it! ;D

The main wing was just scaled up out of the book 2x's larger
and cut out of styrene, same goes for the underbelly part.

The main hull is laminated pine,
I just carved it into the hull shape and then did some
sanding.

Then I vacuum formed it in 2mm styrene.

For the tail struts I used the laser cannon parts from the new
revell X-wing and some evergreen tube stock.

For the end of the tail I used some shell rounds from the Morse Carl rail gun,
I sanded half of them away.

I filled the open area with apoxie sculpt....

The X-wing kit is a snap together kit so I decided to take
advantage of the large attachment tubes and run some
screws through the wing and up into them. I wanted the tail
to be mounted very strong, this worked very well! I got the screws
from hardware recycled from old toys they work well in plastic!

Solid as you can see......

I added the horizontal tail between the struts no big deal,
just a piece of styrene cut to fit...

I had detailed the end of the long bulkhead but decided later
to jam the engine in here, so i ripped out all the detail and
stuffed in the engine exhaust nozzle.

Here it is with primer the details below would have been taken up
by the engine in the reference pictures, but I changed it around.

I also added some details to the front area as well, and i decided I
wanted the fighter to be a little more heavily armed, so I added
cannons at the edges of the wings, and some launchers mounted
under the wings. Don't mind the canopy it's just taped on there,
in these pictures.

The canopy I cut directly out of the vacuum formed hull. But before
I dremeled out the canopy I poured some ultracal30 into it. Now I would
have a part to form over to make my clear part for the canopy. Although
I am not detailing the cockpit I will be back spraying the clear part black
to give it a cool look.

I was looking through my parts bins and decided to
add these heat shields around the engine, and some
other bits here and there. Once I added them I felt
the panel lines on the wings looked a little boring
compared to the new details. So I made some raised
panels over the panel lines, I used some "V" grove
evergreen plastic card.

This post should bring it all up to speed......
Pretty much I added some intake detail on the underside,
but still have some detailing to do under there. I used parts
from the Saturn V rocket, and kept flipping them around until
i doubled them up and it looked interesting. Then i primed everything
and that's pretty much where I am at the moment.

Awesome work. That is some of the best scratch building ive seen on any of the boards. Great work, really something to take pride in. Can't wait to see it painted and all finished.
Bravo

Cool Project !
Real awesomeness here. Thank you since with your Cloakshape fighter I now have some cool ideas to use a spare Tie Advanced Tie Fighter solar panel. :)

Masterful Michael!

Incredibly cool stuff. Love the additions you've made especially the new armaments, the wing tips did look a little bit plain and boring before. Now it looks mean and dangerous! 8)

Still can't help admiring and envying your scratchbuilding skills, dude!
Outstanding work here!!

Wicked scratching my friend

Your builds are always so clean

Are you gunna add some detail in the cockpit?

Where did you get the design for this ship, and what is it from?
Excellent work on it. It looks like it was a kit that just came that way!!!!
Love it!
Have you ever seen a movie called "Slipstream" with Mark Hammill?
This design kind of reminds me of that movie, even though It has been many many years since I have seen it.
:)
