So, this is my second attempt at building a model. The Blackbird is sitting, just need to do some putty work on a few panels and paint it.

Trying the F/A-18 now.

Please be kind. I tried my best at the guages, but I suck at tiny work. I need to get a good magnifying lamp. I got a cheap "helping hands" and looking though the magnifying glass on that thing makes me feel drunk. I might come back later to the cockpit and see if I can fix it up some in how it looks. Did loose 2 tiny parts. What I think would of been the thrust lever on the left and the eject harness.

Go easy on yourself, looks good to me especially for your second model!!!! Perfection is unattainable, especially because what is perfect anyways? Surely everybody has a different perception of it. Anyways your doing a great job, stick with it!

not bad for your second model! have to set small goals for your self and don't beat yourself up. Completion not perfection. Can't wait to see the rest! We all are our own worst critics

Yeah. I'm taking my time on this one. The Blackbird was pretty easy to build, need to get some pics of that one. Already planning out a list of what's next to build. At least this is cheaper then my photography habit. For now I guess. I know I need to invest in airbrush/compressor next.

Just to echo the other guys, it's a hobby where your skill builds with each kit built. Enjoy it, see what works, what doesn't and take those learnings and apply them to the next project. If you're was ways looking to get it perfect, it will never get done.

Good start on the Super Hornet. Looking forward to your next update.

The most frustrating part of it is when I drop something on the carpet and spend 20 minutes on my hands and knees trying to find a gray colored tiny piece of plastic on a semi dark colored carpet. Kept doing that all day yesterday. I'm thinking I need to add tweezers to my kit to handle parts like that.

Other then that, I really need to learn pre/post shading and weathering.. That and dealing with the water decals. I've never had much luck with those. Right now the models I'm working on are naked. No paint or decals at this time.

Definitely invest in a couple pairs of tweezers. As far as the decals go, I cant speak highly enough about the Micro Mark products. Micro-Sol and Micro-Set are perfect for putting on decals. They sort of soften up the decal allowing it to sink into the detail of plastic and it makes them look as though they were painted on.

I'll pick some up on payday (micro set/sol) along with a few models. I hope in the next few weeks to pick up a Badger Renegade Velocity along with a compressor (compressors I am still researching). Time to go work on the Hornet.

MicroSol and MicroSet are great products, but they are produced by Microscale, not Micro Mark.

Well, I primed the F/A-18.. I need to fix some panel lines on it. The wings tips did not align well and are not level. I did get the landing gear doors closed, it's not pretty, but hey.. I'm gonna display the plane in a flying position and nobody will see the bottom.

Did start painting the cockpit parts for my F-15. One thing I learned there is. No way am I going to be able to detail those small knobs and screens. Im gonna learn mastering how to get panels lined up well (guess part of that will be researching out kits to see which ones are good and which are not).

Still having a good time with em, no matter how they turn out. Beats the hell out of playing World of Warcraft all the time. :D
