Hi All!

Trying my hand at something new - the kit was practically given away to me at a Swap&Meet. If anyone has experience building any of the revell steam locomotives I would be grateful for any pointers! I am planning to paint it Prussian green (possible but likely fictional paint scheme).

Good looking project in the making here bud. I don't know anyone here but I do have friends in other places that have taken something like this on.

As a matter of fact there may be one guy. @Project510

Looks fun. I've got a small collection of the airfix railway models. But they're vintage so won't be building them. 😆
Looking forward to seeing more of this.
I was looking at my options for water towers! I am building a small base but will likely only have a small piece of rail that was included with the kit as a nice bonus

Primed and ready for paint! Main components went together *ok* but let's just say I wasn't inticed to run out and buy a bunch more of these Revell kits.... The top seam especially is a nightmare to fix with all the raised details and some parts are rather warped. Second photo shows the first steps in attempting to turn the model into a functioning bong :D (fueled by food grade glycerin and water)

The LED wires and silicone tube for the smoke effect will be funneled through the smokestack and under the front truck wheels.

I used Google Gemini to help visualize the paint scheme I am going for.

This is coming along quite well so far and I hear what you're saying about that nasty seam going right down the middle of the spine of this beast with all of those raised details. I like what you're doing with the lighting and smoke effects and am looking forward to seeing you paint all of the raised details. I'm like you on not liking the idea of painting raised details. Very tedious.

Unfortunately struggling with the smoke unit (it gets hot enough to burn my finger but the glycerine mixture isn't atomizing)... might be a voltage issue. Painting is coming along well and I like the way the way the gold on the boilder bands pop.

Some progress shots now in the finish line, I wish I had lightened the prussian green a bit but going down in scale/lightening color tones is a lesson I can't seem to learn
Haven't been in on this thread in a minute but it looks like your progress is coming along pretty nicely. Never built a train before and builds like this one here are inspiring to say the least. Keep up the good work. 👍

Some more progress photos. I am fairly happy with everything so far except I do need to fix the right headlight. The LED bulb is fixed with UV resin but I should be able to pry the plastic off and clean it up a bit. The flicker LED in the the firebox looks better in person than this photo, if I add some clear red Tamiya and a few pieces of coal, it should have a decent effect.
