Revell 1/570 RMS Titanic

I'll be starting in on this classic. My wife gave me this kit for Christmas 20+ years ago. She's happy that I'm finally getting around to starting it.

Cool! I built a Titanic kit two or three times when I was 10 or 11. I remember bad painting with testers paint, and glue all over it with no seams filled every time.

I love how the box art shows it sailing at full steam ahead, directly into a frozen land mass, or technically iceberg I suppose. LOL.

The joint for the hull halves is not a very good one so I added some reinforcements using the old standby Testors tube cement and some Evergreen sheet.. See, there's still a good use for tube cement. Tamiya putty on the bottom makes the seam a little more acceptable.

The stand builds up pretty nicely. I'll see if I can paint it well, or I might use the type of stands I've been using: wooden base and metal risers.

Most of today will be spent drilling out port holes.

Great work so far. Not the most accurate kit, and with it's share of difficulties, but it's a fun kit to build. I've actually started one of these myself, but am modifying it to resemble this:

I'm seeing that, especially with the decks, but I like a challenge and I'm hoping it works up to a nice display.

Can't wait to see how your diorama comes out.
