Its been almost a year since I've worked on the Red Squadron project. I have decided to start over with the Bandai x-wing kits. The 1:48 Revell kits were ok but like just about every other modeler I could not pass up the detail of the Bandai 1:72 kits.

So I started in reverse this time around with red 6. Base paint is finished, weathering has begun. Still need to finish Porkin's helmet, clean off more of the wash, damage the paint in a few more areas, add the wing markings, and so forth.

Porkins' bird is looking good here.
I agree with the decision to go with the Bandai kits

Great job on the detailing highlights. Looking very nice so far. The fact that the details are there in the first place really helps. :)

UGH!!!! NO!! Although a lot of people think these are the way to go I just wish someone would've been decent enough to make these accurate way back when MPC made them. This would've made it a lot more memorable, and desirable than the ones of today are. Nice weathering so far even though the references for this bird are not very good, or plentiful.

Not sure I 100% get what your trying to say... Scott made amazing Red 3 and Red 6 out of the old MPC kits if that's what your looking for. His entire saga building them is easily found on the SMA youtube.

Thanks Scott!

Hope you find time to film more sagas in the future.

Oz I really love your use of muted tans and greys. I will keep this in mind for my Red 6 build if I ever get around to it. I cant wait to see this thing come together! ;)

It looks awesome! It's also nice to see an X-wing other than Red 5 as well

I still use your marking guide as reference anytime I am looking to paint an X-wing
