I finally completed this 3D printed model of a 1983 Chrysler LeBaron. It was a contract job for a continuous client who has me build and paint up numerous old cartoon and movie figures and items. I had never seen the movie but knew about it so went online to find what it looked like. He wanted it done in the very damaged mode near the end of the movie. I did watch the movie after I had already done figures of Martin and Candy as well as the steamer trunk they carried around with them. That said it was a horrible model to build. There were about 15 parts with the body in halves. Things just kind of matched but nothing like pins and mating surfaces, just flat poor surface and awful fits. The parts were heavy too and it was about 1/18th scale so big and heavy as well. To join the body halves I glued plastic tabs I cut from sheet to hold them to each other at the door seams. The parts were decently printed but just parts without any mating surfaces really. Attaching the bottom was awful which I did with a lot of epoxy sitting flat on wax paper. Painting it all was maybe the easiest as he doesn't really care that much about nice detail work. After I had it assembled and painted I doused it with MIG scifi rocket exhaust pigment and sealed them down with a heavy coat of Krylon matte acrylic spray. I am happy with how it came out and am very happy this job is behind me. He has given me quite a bit of very odd work over the 3 years I've been doing these things for him. I have 3 figures, a cartoon bust, and PeeWee Herman's 3D printed bicycle on the bench and those aren't the weirdest things I've done for him. He doesn't complain and pays decently.
