I was doing a bunch of painting of all the small parts the other day. You know, multiple paint colors, switching real quick between colors. And I told myself wow, you just went through about five colors, stirring with the end of your paintbrush and wiping the end of the paintbrush on a rag. What a waste of paint. This stuff's expensive. So I bought a little mixer thing. I love it. Pretty neat little Gadget and it works great

I do not know the model you show, but the general class of shakers are used (I think) by tattoo artists.

Total agreement in agitation within the bottle/jar, with or without stainless balls, so much better than a brush or stick or pipette. Beware of air bubbles, but other than that, great stuff.

I was thinking of getting those battery operated paint stirrers. One model had a permanent Long Rod on it with a propeller on the end and the other one had disposable little paint stirrers. I'm thinking either way you got to clean it or throw away one with paint on it. Waste of paint.

Funny. I should have checked first before I posted this. There's a post with the same name I just got through reading through. Go figure. And I also just now tried mixing up a bottle of my old tester Square bottle paints. It couldn't do it. So I think I'm going to get the one you got also.

That's what I use most of the time. On really old separated paint I drop in 1 or 2 steel balls run it right side up, upside down then right side up again. If it has been mixed, 1 the does it. This handles everything from small testers bottles to the tall AK bottles.
I also have the battery operated (drink mixer type) that gets occasional use (warning! With new batteries don't hold the on switch too long, it'll spin the paint right out of the 23ml bottles).
Last but not least, I have the old style lay the paint bottle on it's side and strap it down (not used for about 2 years).

I will add balls when I get the paint. Thinking is good enough for the rattle cans. The reason is that paint bombs are often left for long periods between uses. Model paints fall under the same umbrella.

Had the drink mixer lol, that is all it's good for, was a total mess, talk about wasting paint. It was the king, second to knocking over a paint bottle left uncapped.
Cheers

Heavy7 knows his *****. I just got that little boat motor battery operated piece of crap. Too bad I don't drink anymore, I would have a good drink stirrer

Careful with the steel balls in glass jars. I have heard more than once they can shatter. I find it hard to imagine with normal shaking by hand, or the vibration-agitators, but maybe the machines are too violent?

The one I use has a speed (violent) control, metallic paints like silver get a pair of balls.
The time, and I speculate here because I have not had the desire to put a stopwatch on it. I believe the time (shake) is the same.
