Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

Evenin Folks,

Thanks for the positive words friends,

Been back from holiday for a week now and this is where I'm at......

I had sprayed a very tentative layer of Future, I was worried it would mess with my Alclad paint
And it did a bit but i think i can fudge it into weathering.
So

Very thin black pastel wash over the top of the wings

Picture%2520359.jpg

Then i got a new piece of conduit tubing so i could mount the ship in a verticle position...

Picture%2520362.jpg

Easier to work on and everything could flow in the right direction

Removed the masking tape from the underside vector nozzles

Picture%2520364.jpg

Applied the vodka pour spout thruster vector nozzels painted matt black

Picture%2520365.jpg

The underside after the wash is removed

Picture%2520366.jpg

Picture%2520367.jpg

Added another layer of black pastel wash to the engine actuators

Picture%2520368.jpg

Then i just worked on the details on the upper wing

Picture%2520372.jpg

Picture%2520373.jpg

Picture%2520374.jpg

Then i added AK engine oil and streaking grime to the back flap actuators

Picture%2520376.jpg

Then added oil weathering to the front section

Picture%2520378.jpg

And the wing tops and details

Thats the story so far

Stay tuned kids

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

I keep taking a look in here, and each time the awesomeness just keeps increasing. Very massively totally cool. ;D

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

I'm running out of ways to describe how impressive this build is.

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

In the words of Alan Partridge...'Splendid and tramendous'
Gag any chance of getting some beauty shots on a white background with a coke can or similar in one of the pics to give it scale?

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

As a new member I've only just discovered this thread and what can I say that hasn't already been said ? Absolutely phenomenal build ! Everything about it , from design to execution is flawless . And THAT design ! All of it makes sense ( in a daft sort of way , obviously) and you can believe it totally WORKS as a real world piece of machinery . That sort of design "ethic" is not easy to do and the only problem is that now I'm looking at my own latest project with different eyes ! Curse you ! ;)

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

Gag, I must confess, that like the majority of the others I simply can't find any words to describe the unbelievable coolness of this your project anymore :)
Man'o'man, I can't even imagine what would happen when You post the final pics - guess I will just silently slide under the table unconscious, lol! ;D

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

Those last pics look incredible!
The weathering is soooo realistic. It really looks great :D

I hope I can get my ATHENA to half the standard of your paint and weathering 8)
Cheers
Klaus

Re: NYLON GAG MK 1?

I could look at this all day and still walk away in amazement .
The painting and weathering u have done on this, so far, is
really bringing the ship too life and making all of that lovely
detail pop. ;D
