getting back into the hobby after a ~10-year hiatus. been mainly into 1:48 scale military aircraft and the occasional carrier. kinda lost on supplies ....what are some good online hobby shops? and also paint question...I used to use Model Master enamels regularly, seems they are no longer around. what is a good paint line these days?

Welcome to SMA. The people here are quite knowledgeable and friendly. You'll find it a good place.
Concerning paints Tamiya makes a solid line of acrylics. These are readily available, particularly at several large online order stores like scalehobbyist and sprue Brothers. Scalehobbyist is probably the cheapest. If you check out their website, you'll find a whole slew of supplies. That's a good place to start. All the best

In 1:48 …? How big is your house?!

that was part of the reason for the hiatus, lol! Decent sized house but it started getting a little full even after getting rid of several builds that simply weren't very good. I started getting fairly decent the last few years , and became very self critical of my early work, some of which truly was garbage. Donated several builds to the VA hospital where I work, as well as to a few individuals who expressed interest. Good news is, I have plenty of room to start over
