I just joined and would like to show you some of my Real Space models.
As an introduction, I've been building kits for about 4 years, and love scratchbuilding. I've been interested in the US Manned Space program since the 1960's ... and am having a blast building, and researching, these little replicas.

Now let's see ... how do I post 'em? ... ah-h-h, there it is ...

This was my first build. It's the Apollo 15 Lunar Module with a scratchbuilt Rover

My scratchbuilt 1/72 Hubble Space Telescope. This'll be used with a Shuttle in the near future.

The Surveyor, again scratchbuilt, was used with another LM as part of the Apollo 12 diorama.

The is EVA models 1/32 Lunar Rover. The aft equipment palette was scratchbuilt to show Apollo 17

The 1/24 Gemini with a completely accurized interior ... and much, much more.

Is there a limit to how many images I can post in one session? Assuming there is ... I'll post a few more later.

Thanx for taking a peek!

Man, this is incredible!
Awesome models with a great level of detalisation.
You can be proud of such collection. Thumbs up!
P.S.: Welcome to SMA ;)

Outstanding modeling! Love how you did the ascent panels on the LM. Any chance for some closeups of that?

Those are great. I get the distinct feeling real space doesn't get the attention it deserves. It's a shame because some of those subjects are amazing.

Gee ... thanx alot guys!

"Jim2001", I'll post a couple pix of the panels on my LM. I used thick aluminum sheet, (used printing press plates) it's easy to manipulate and easy to acquire too! And I used CA to adhere it to the styrene. Here's a couple pix.

"Fumblethumbs", for the Gemini I did start with the 1/24 Revell kit. I also used the update set from Real Space models and did a LOT of scratchbuilding on it, interior and exterior. The astronaut, for instance, the torso was the only part used ... his helmet, arms and legs, plus his chest pack were all scratchbuilt.

Here's the kit part and my 'new' guy.

Plus the Ejection seats and other interior details ...

Plus the access panels on the adapter section ...

And the hatches ...

Here's the 'Angry Alligator' from Gemini 9A. This was also all built from scratch.

And I agree with you all about the lack of attention this segment of the hobby gets. These pieces of hardware were all designed, engineered, built AND flown in a very short time period. And I'm ab-so-lutely fascinated with learning about 'em ... and showing 'em to both the modeling community and viewers at shows, for instance.

And one more ... I did a cutaway of the LM ... and learned one heckuva lot about this engineering marvel!
The cutaway is of Apollo 11 and the Apollo 12 is beside it.

Thanx alot gents!
Pete

Those really are some sweet looking birds. Great scratch building on everything, especially the astronaut. I love it.

@mallagoodee: Thanks for posting those closeups. Those panels look perfect. I hadn't thought of printing plates but the wrinkle is bang-on.

The little helical antenna on the back: how did you do that? Is it just a cone or is there a spiral part to it?

Very nice builds!!!

Also, there is only a limit to the number of photos in a post if they are hosted on site. So if you have your photos on a site like flicker, then you can post as many as you like.
