I've been building models since like 6-7 years ago. Did a lot in the seventies. Anyways, I find that I haven't progressed as much as I would have like to. Mainly Armor, I still do the kind of mistakes that normally I would not make at the well so-called level that I am right now. Maybe at 72 years old, it's maybe likely I won't get to the level I want. I just want to be proud of the mark. It's just for me, I don't show my work. I've tried tackling Phot-Etch, forget it. I've tried many times to no avail. Maybe considering losing this hobby. When I am close to finishing a project I tend not to completely finish it. Like I did most of the work, around 90%, then I just go to next one. Anyways sorry for the rant.
Thanks a bunch

What matters is that you like what you're doing. If you don't get along with photoetched parts, then don't use them — simple as that :) If you don't finish a model before moving onto the next one, but enjoy it that way, no worries.

Of course, if you do find yourself being bothered about not entirely finishing models, maybe the thing to try is to make yourself finish one. Don't allow yourself to start another before you complete the current one — this may take some perseverance and willpower, sure, but nobody ever got worse from those :) I sometimes end up doing this, because I frequently have too many models that I want to have finished and too many ideas, but I don't want to end up with shelves and boxes full of nearly finished models either. So my solution is to make myself finish one before starting the next one.
