Me 109 found in Russian lake.

Wow, surprisingly good condition for being immersed in a lake for 70 years or so. That's a 109E, so it dates from the early part of the war.

sweet, a BF-109E, man must have not taken much damage, i think i saw a cannon hole, maybe it got hit in the liquid cooling system, or oil cooler, and then was water landed.

Nice, wish I could find a Bf 109E-7, or a tank, in a lake. Of course I would have to move to Europe or Russia.

;D

If the undercarriage gear was down when this was found then I guess the pilot managed a safe landing on a frozen lake and started walking. If it was somewhere off the beaten track then that would explain it being untouched by anyone before the ice melted and it sank to the bottom.

Wonder if that was the case. If the props are curled back then it was a belly landing - and a bl%@dy good one at that considering the lack of damage to the bottom of the fuselage.
