Man this stuff is fragile..at least the coating on the sheet is..and is tissue paper thin..like a decal.
Spent a few hours cutting and punching out templates..got the upper firewall on..working on the lower.
Have to wait for the decals from iteleri to do the dashboard..its too complicated to use use masking paper.

Took a chance and cut the magneto out of the dash. They had it molded in and it didn't look right as its a separate part.
Still waiting on the decals from Italy so I can finish the dash and move on.
Working on the body parts..
Weathered them up with dulcote and a black wash.

I have not been on this forum in quite a while and read through this thread with great interest.
Just about to start building the kit I bought when it was first released, so I am scrutinizing this build and others on different forums and on Youtube.
I would be interested to find the full size restoration project you have been referring to. Is it on YouTube ?
The kit generally looks quite good despite the errors that need correcting and I will be doing a lot of extra detailing and improving on it.
This particular build is taking shape really well. I note you live in Utah and find items like miniature bolts and nuts cost a fortune if shipped from Europe. Have you tried model railroad suppliers for that sort of thing ?

I've tried everywhere..model motorcars in Florida is good for hardware.
I downloaded about 500 pictures from all sources and bought the chiltons manual.
I like to weather the hell out of these cars as they are 100 years old..and weathering makes it more realistic..unless your building a museum piece or the new ones from Argentina.

I won't be heavily weathering mine, but wish to depict it as owned, looked after but showing its age, so the weathering on mine will generally be more subtle. More like an owner's car that is taken out and takes part in vintage car faces as hill climb events. Definitely not a Pebble Beach concours motor !
The Chiltons Manual.....I guess it is the Hzynes Manual similar to mine ?

Yup..that's it..the Haynes one.
I haven't worked on it in a while..ski season is here and I'm still waiting on the new decals for the dash
