Started this quick build and am attempting a more detailed pant scheme. Very complicated pants with this one! Sorry can't seem to correct my misspell. Anyway I'm using this to practice my detail painting on 1/72 for a diorama I plan on doing this year. I'll be painting as much as I can in lieu of the decals. A bit difficult to find good pics of this particular plane. I've found models but not a lot of historical pics. I've already managed to break off a port gun. I really hate when they mold it into the plane!

Did a bit during my lunch. I'm trying to decide if I should attempt the red accents that go on the cowling and rear vertical or just use the decals. I'd like to progress to being able to paint my insignias etc so I guess I'll have a go at the mask and if I can't get it uniform to my liking I'll use the decals. I used pink primer under the yellow- read about that after I had painted my step side and I really do think it makes a difference.

Frustrating morning. Yesterday I had a bit of a problem with varnish. Did not like the end result but I'm not about to sand this and start over. I figure the decals and weathering would cover up the imperfection. Anyway, the decals are the worst I've ever had. 30 sec in the water and they were floating to make matters worse they were breaking apart in pieces- as if someone had sliced them up with a razor. Next set inlet sit for 15 sec and same thing. I ended up scraping the piecemeal decals I did manage to save off the plane. Very disappointing as my yellow turned out so nice and the scheme for this plane was very different.

Ugh. My F18 is a Hasegawa kit.
