MISSION BRIEFING

alright guys, lets get this underway, this small group build starts now!

THE GROUP BUILD
Make your own Super Fighter Pilot, i have posted a Example, my Ace Of Spades P-51D Mustang and its pilot, Atom Fusion.

Rules!
*it must be a Fighter Aircraft!
*it can be any time period from WWI to modern!
*it can be any Genera from Real warfare to Sifi!
*it can be any scale!
*it must be your own creation, it cannot be a already Existing ace, for example, you cannot build Erich Hartmann's BF-109G-10 or Clarence Anderson's P-51!
*it can either be a diorama or just the aircraft, you can even include the pilots greatest foe!
*a limit of 6 Aces projects per person!
*you can post finished builds here if you wish, you don't have to start building, or be building the ace and his craft now, it can already be done just post it and a description!

I Strongly Recommend
*that you come up with a story line for your pilot, Describe him or her or it even if its a alien or something, doesn't need to be super descriptive!
*if you wish include pictures besides your model of the aircraft and or pilot, it is highly encuraged!

Work in progress
*if you wish to post the work in progress please post a thread of the work in progress, in the work in progress forum, then post the link to your thread in the work in progress forum here, afterworlds, this will prevent cludder in the thread!

Timing
it starts NOW!

i want the build to end February 13th!

THIS IS NOT A CONTEST!
there will be no judging, there will be no prizes, all i want to do is simply have a good time with this, see what everyone can come up with!

any questions you can post a question, PM me, or email me at [email protected]

Are you up to the challenge...? i hope you are, if so, lets do this, good luck ladies and gentelmen!

Atom Fusion "The Ace Of Spades"

MODEL REVEL 1/48TH SCALE P-51D MUSTANG LEVEL 2

1st attempt
Woundedpray.jpg

AceOfSpadesP-51Restored2.jpg
i converted the 1st attempt ace of spades mustang into the Black Magician P-51

2nd attempt
i currently have no pictures of the second attempt it will be shown in the Diorama still kept as the Ace Of Spades P-51 but was modified for placement on a pedistol or in a diorama rather then hung with the rest of the collection!

Final product
7Oclockhigh.jpg
the only major flaw with the final product is the propeller hub, which is easily replaceable! i did not put sealer on it, my fault, other wise for the most part its a good looking model. 3rd time the charm! i am only going to post one picture here, if you want to see more of it, go to the Gallery, its easy to find, its the only P-51 in the forum, and even if it wasnt you would know it if you saw it!

Atom Fusion was a born Areal warrior, the sun of a Veteran WW1 ace, flying was in atoms Genes. Atom had early experiences with flight at young ages, as his father would take him for rides in crop dusters from time to time, and at sibling ages he was always drawing, or playing with airplanes. In his teenage years, he was either reading his bible, target practicing with his rifle, or studding aviation, and areal warfare. Aviation was in essence his hobby, and by age 16 atom earned his pilots license with flying colors.
At the age of 18 after high school atom joined up to fly for the USAAF, and when the US Army Air Force noticed his abilities, they wasted no time placing him in a special unit for more rigorous training. It was sort of a experimental project to train, special forces pilots. Atom would be one of the very few to pass the course. In 1940 he was sent to fight with the British to gain combat experience, in this effort atom had quickly earned the reputation as a excellent fighter pilot. It was here that he earned the nickname Ace Of Spades because he quickly Established himself as the highest scoring fighter pilot at Base.
December 7th 1941 Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. December 8th 1941 the US declared war agents Japan, the USAAF wasted no time in placing him in charge of a American unit. Atom wanted to fight in the Pacific, but the USAAf thought he would be more useful to continue fighting in the European Theater; he would be in charge of a special Squadron, “Four Ace Squadron.” They would fly thunderbolts. What was so different about Four ace squadron, the unit that atom flew in, was they flew Daily, extremely high risk missions, sometimes twice daily, atom quickly earned kills. In Mid 1942 Atom fell in love with Amber, they married before the Fall of 1942.
On December 25th 1942 atoms squadron would be the first to receive a special gift from the North American aviation company, 6 brand new, P-51B mustangs. Atom and his squadron would be the first to combat test these fighters, and with this fighter atom Excelled far above. The P-51 was a excellent match for atom, and with it atom was capable of doing so much more with the fighter, he quickly learned techniques to make the mustangs performance even better, he could out perform anything he faced with the P-51 German pilots that knew him, claimed there was very little chance of survival agents him. Around mid late 1943 atoms squadron would receive the new P-51D mustangs; atom loved this fighter even more, and painted it with his special paint scheme. Atom at this point had proved him self well in combat. He would participate in D day flying Two missions that day, one escorting C-47s carrying paratroopers into Germany, then doing patrols around Normandy beach, he saw no action during the C-47 escort, but during the patrols shot down a few aircraft. he was one of the first to earn a double ace in a single flight, he took on many adversaries, his greatest Gutted Melbore, a German ace with parts of his BF-109 painted gold, Atom shot him down in a intensive dogfight that lasted for a extended period. Atom had shot down over 5 ME-262s in his service and even destroyed a V-1 Buzz bomb, he had also destroyed a German Experimental aircraft, a jet powered flying wing. One of atoms greatest fetes was taking on 6 BF-109G-10s single handed, the pilots where un experienced, but none the less a amazing feet, shooting down every single fighter single handed.
Atom saw service in the Pacific, shooting down a good number of Japanese fighters, and Escorting Box Car to Nagasaki to drop Fat Man. During his service he had Destroyed 361 aircraft, and many ground targets. Had earned many awards including several special ones, and made over $1,000,000. he was also allowed to take home his aircraft disarmed.

Atoms favorite method of attack was to surprise attack his pray from higher altitudes, then once they tried to get away, use the mustangs superior higher speed maneuverability particularly its rate of turn, agents them. He used this tactic the most by far, and it is how he claimed most of his victories in the mustang. Another one of his favorite tactics was to lure his pray out into the open out of tangles, he would get there attention, use his superior speed to lure them out into a high speed dogfight out in the open, then once they where far out of range of getting any help in time, would attack them and shoot them down. He was also very good at taking on multiple threats single handedly, but would usually have amber as support along with the rest of his group.
Atom was also good at hitting targets at great angles from vast distances, in fact that’s how he preferred to shoot down his targets because it was most challenging, when they where in a slight turn, or in a heavy turn. Atom was capable of taking shots at targets where you would least expect it. Atom was very capable of taking extreme G forces in some cases because he would condition himself heavily; he basically at one point was able to take in excess of 10G.

“once we where doing training excersizes and we where doing sharp turns and pulling out of dives, atom had me try to keep up with him, and the G forces he could pull where just painful… I would about black out trying to keep up with him.”
Ted Wilson

“His ability to sustain the Forces of flight are near un Human!” Gutted Melbore

atom knew his aircraft up and down, every action he performed was instinctive, easily out smarting armature pilots, and even the highest scoring of German aces. His vision was excellent, he could see for miles clearly, and could notice minute details, and could distinguish enemy aircraft from allied aircraft with ease! Even with all these incredible abilities atoms personality was more Humble, he was proud, but only to a certain extent, he did not see himself as the greatest thing, and more towards wars end didn’t really even care for his kill tally, his cool yet humble attitude, made him a person most looked up too on the ground, one of the attributes, that made him a very effective leader.

“I find it so funny that a man so Talented, and so… skilled, could be so humble!” Eppsy nash

“more towards the end of the war, I would ask him, and many others would also, how many airplanes he had shot down… he would tell me, “I don’t care.” So I kept his kill tally for him, and at the end of his service, I presented it to him, and others. his crew would paint the crosses on his plane for him because he would not do it, and they believed he should be proud, they where so proud to work on a aircraft, flown by a pilot, who was so successful, they felt he needed to show how many he shot down!” Amber Fusion

“Why the hell should I have cared? It was just a stupid pointless war! Why in the world, should I have been proud proud? I was killing people, and leading men to there deaths! The only reason I did it, is because I felt it’s what I should have done, I felt I was doing my job, why should I be proud of myself, it would be selfish for me to be proud of something… so darn pointless, many good men will tell you the same fricking thing! sure I may have been a “good pilot.” Sure I may have shot down a lot of planes, but is that really something to be proud of in the end? I really see no pride in it.”
Atom Fusion

His hot aggression in the air made him a dangerous advisory, and he was extremely cool and collected and precise under pressure. but at times it was also his weakness, he would be known too chase down enemy fighters that shot at him because of his aggression, or even worse, ones that shot at amber, Almost through a field of flak, without a care!

“He would get angry and only by the grace of god alone, he would survive.” Amber fusion

[quote author=DreamKnight]

As we are usually running contests, we want to keep to a minimum of 2 or 3 active official GBs. However, since group builds usually run along a long timeline, there are often subjects members would like to see as a Group Build so they can build things together.

As a member we want to encourage participation so we will use this forum for unofficial GBs that members can start on their own.

First off, as a member, you will have to be the one who coordinates the build. It's your responsibility and you need to follow the guidelines below:

1) Post a topic with a title of your Group Build. In this topic, be detailed about how long you want to run this GB, the restrictions and details of the models, scale... etc., what it's about and give references to the subject at hand. This thread will handle your build updates. You can direct your participants to post their reveal topics at the appropriate showroom forum in the "Let's Build Something!" category.

2) The subject of your group build MUST be specific to the point of being a special interest. i.e. don't try and create a group and say, "Let's build a tank!", rather select a specific tank to build, "Building the M1 Abram".

3) You must get at least 3 people interested and to join in to make it an active group build.

4) You must keep the group build active and going. Any GB deemed inactive, we'll remove.

To be fair, if I see that a member has come up with a GB that has many people interested and committed to it (let's say 5 or more participants), I will make a sub-forum for that build to handle the numbers.

If you really like to jump in and run a member GB, then I encourage you to do it! You might see me participating as well. All we ask is to keep it active and going.

alright!

I can't. I considered building a Blackhawks Douglas Skyrocket (I have the kit in my collection) from a comic book - but I'm chipping away at my WiP and I have to finish up two GBs' already. Maybe next time around.

I would think the modeling sites would get more traffic during the winter. That's when I get time to build due to the weather and all. I got a pretty big yard and another addiction-playing softball-that keeps me pretty darned busy during the warmer months. Once the snow falls I tend to hibernate in my Man Cave and can be found either working on a model or playing some mind-numbing video game. In fact, right now I'm taking a micro-break from working on my 1/35 Soviet KV-1B tank. Yup, the one I started as my entry for the big contest last summer. Just a few more little details and it will be done. A little late for the contest, but when I started I didn't really think I would get it finished in time. But Scott puts all the profits to a good cause so it was worth the $5. But as far as your GB goes, I wish I could. Right now I have 3 builds scattered across by bench and 2 more waiting in the wings, so I just can't commit to another right now.
Good luck, and don't forget to "check your 6".

I agree with that, although I guess it depends where in the world you are located. In Australia they are starting their summer while the snow flies outside my window. ;D

Perhaps after the holidays things will pick up?

Our weather is not so strange. We have snow, and cold, and more snow, and not alot of daylight, and sigh, more snow and cold...

But tonight we have a eclipse - it's lunar - vampires not included. ;D

i guess i understand, everyone has there builds ready, or really arent interested in any sort of aircraft building, but anyhow... this group build will go on until its end date, i have a few things to post anyhow..

The forward swept one is based on both the SyFy series, and some of Richard Hatch's revival work for the original series.
Haven't done a lot of background on the pilot of that one, though
