Decahell (Kobayashi style mech)

Soooo I started the red paint over the brown basecoat, this was usually my recipe for a smooth coat of red (brown primer, muliple thin layers of dark red followed by lighter red), but in this case, using army painter red it didn't work out... I couldn't get it smooth and even.
Though my wife likes the result (which is important of course), I'm not sure yet. Any tips for fixing are welcome, as are any tips for removing the paint.

I'm very slow, but such is life ^_^

Slight progress, new red, some different colour and washes.
Hopefully tonight some oil washes and it's as good as done.

Hehe, thanks, almost as if I know what I'm doing right? ^_^

Now it's almost done, almost...

I especially like how my photo-set-up removes most of the oil paint effects... I should really get myself a lightbox again, and maybe some good lights.

Fun to try different techniques on this one, Not having painted more than 10 models in my life I think it's pretty good.
Maybe I'll tweak the oils later, when I've got more control over them.

I do need to do a pinwash on the panel lines again, somehow didn't really work out last time.
Dark brown will do the trick, but first I'll need the oils to toughen enough.
Maybe some more white fading and dirt on the feet too...

Excellent work! mate, you have caught the Kobayashi look perfectly. 8)
